Five Minute Friday: Risk
Go.
sometimes i feel like there is such risk in trusting the Lord at His word. i mean, while i know that He loves me and is in complete control my personality doesn't want to rely on that. i want to keep looking, searching, figuring out. but i think that is not really trust.
risk is when there is something to lose. if i do this, then that might happen, i stand to lose something or not be better off in the outcome.
there is no risk in trusting the Lord. true trust means knowing and relying on His promises. hope, in it's original sense meant being sure of what our faith was put in - therefore to hope in the Lord meant no risk, just certainty that our faith would be rewarded because the Object of our faith was True.
no risk.
Stop.
Matthew 16:24 "Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me."
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, you could not have said it better. Risk is when we chose to loose everything we have ever worked for or are working towards. Jesus urges us to pick up our cross daily. That means that we need to die to ourselves if we long to be called His disciples.
The problem is that there are way too many comforts in our culture that make it difficult to risk the lose.
And you are right, our hope is in His promise in that one day He is going to make all the wrong things right. If not in this age, for sure in the age to come.
Be encouraged and continue the steadfast race!

Elizabeth, your thoughts definitely resonate with mine when given this word prompt. The verse I thought of was Romans 8:28-30 :)
